Loup Lobet

I am PhD student in computer science at Inria-CRIStAL in the D-DAL team, under the supervision of Charles Paperman 🦆 and Laure Gonnord.

In my free time, I’m interested in research operating systems, particularly Plan 9 from Bell Labs, Inferno, and Unix. I have a keen interest in software elegance and harmonious interactions between programs. In particular, I highly value programs that remain simple in their understanding and concepts, yet versatile in their usage.

I’m a fond of programming languages and enjoy sharing my opinions on their design. I have a strong background in low-level programming, but I’m increasingly appreciating languages with more complex and elegant typing systems. I also enjoy exploring compilers optimization processes and how high-level abstractions can help produce more efficient machine code.

I don’t like GNU/Linux, and think it is a pointless and obsolete operating system made of odds and ends. GNU/Linux is the JavaScript of operating systems.
